Magenta Day

Today the outsourcing deal of most of Shell’s SITI to the three suppliers – EDS, AT&T, and T-Systems – has become reality. So as of today I’m a contractor with T-Systems and besides of the nice welcome-onboard-package (including an iPod Shuffle!) not that much will change in the coming weeks. How magenta my near future will be is subject of discussion as I really look forward to a change of role after being in the same role for almost 2 years now within the former SITI organisation.

Acting strange after turning 30…

Erik proposing Esmé

Erik asking Esmé

Last Wednesday my brother turned 30 and somewhere in three days time he lost his mind :P Oke, it isn’t that dramatic and actually it’s quite cool though. After yesterdays BBQ to celebrate his birthday he went down on his knee to ask his girlfriend to marry him… and yep, she said yes so we are now eager to hear when the wedding will be as we always like a party.

It’s all about logo’s!

In the last couple of months I’m working on getting myself fully MCSA 2003 certified and currently I have already passed 2 out of 3 of the core exams. So with 70-270 (XP) and 70-290 (Server 2003) in the pocket I’m already a Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) and of course that comes with a logo… so behold ;-)

April Fools Day

What a great day to announce myself back on the web! After being offline since June 2005, I have taken my time before relaunching my site to make sure that the I will not loose my databases again due to a stupid action of a hosting company…

A few things have changed over time and probably the most important one is that I decided not to develop my own CMS anymore but to use the awesome WordPress platform for it instead. Ok, it needs to be said to the guys from Automattic have made hugh improvement over time and have added loads of extra features so around version 1.5 or so I really started to like it. Another advantage of using WordPress is the community behind it scripting tons of great plugins and themes like K2.

Another noticeable change is the domain name which has changed from grtzs.net into gooos.nl as I think grtzs.net isn’t quite unique enough and gooos is also easier to explain to other people – especially when travelling abroad. I have to admit that I still keep grtzs.net alive for legacy’s sake and that it basically redirects you to gooos.nl instead.

Ok, that being said, I don’t know how things will develop in the near future with regards to posting content and so on as I want to concentrate myself first on finalizing a customized version of the K2 theme. After that I will start migrating a few other sites I host for friends to the same state and once that has been completed, then I will start focussing on more and more content including rewrite lost posts about my travels Down Under.
